
URI, NORTH KASHMIR: J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday promised to take the killing of 12th class student by the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) to court in order to get justice.
A youth Altaf Ahmad Sood , class 12 student was killed and two others including a 70 year old man injured when Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) opened fire on the protesters who were agitating over the power shortage outside the power project of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) at Boniyar in Baramulla district yesterday.
Addressing hundreds of angry people at Boniyar after visiting the bereaved Sood family, the chief minister told the gathering that forces deployed at the NHPC power project had used excessive force and murdered the student by shooting two bullets in his chest.
“This is an inexcusable act. The CISF men opened fire on the protestors and targeted a student , who, according to the parents, was coming from his tuition.The state government has already announced a judicial probe and registered a case for murder ,” Omar told TOI. “We will take the matter to court to get justice for the parents of the boy who was killed for no reason. The use of force was unwarranted ,” the CM said.
Police have already arrested five CISF men including a sub inspector under murder charges. The chief minister has asked the additional deputy commissioner of Baramulla to hold a judicial inquiry in to the incident and submit a report within fifteen days.
“When a precious life is lost in such circumstances, it is all the more painful,” he said sharing his grief with the bereaved family. The chief minister said that his visit to the remote village was only to console the bereaved family and assure that the killers of Altaf Ahmad were not allowed to go scot-free. “We stand by the family at this juncture”, he said.
Earlier, an enraged mob hurled stones at the motorcade of the chief minister and blocked the road at Boniyar. The chief minister however, stepped out of his car and tried to pacify the group. He also promised that the electricity supply of the area would improve within two days.
