Atanu Bhuyan, Editor-in-chief of the channel that first aired the molestation visuals, resigned from his post this afternoon.

Ealier in the day, the News Live editor posted on Twitter, “I m going to resign from newslive at 1 pm”. Before this message, on Monday night Bhuyan tweeted, “I’m going to organise a press conference at Ghy Press Club at 1pm tomorrow where I’ll disclose some important things”.

Last night six more people were arrested, taking the number of molesters in custody to 11. However, the main accused, Amar Jyoti Kalita, is still absconding. Reports say he may have fled to Odisha to escape arrest.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women sacked Alka Lamba, a member of its fact-finding team in Guwahati, after she revealed the victim’s name to the press.
