Super bowling by Mumbai Indians made them winner of Nokia CLT20 Championship League. Bowlers did all the tricks in this shortest form of Cricket. Mumbai Indians started the tournament as underdogs led by captain Harbhajan Singh.
The Mumbai Indians spinners restricted the batting of Royal Challengers Bangalore to win a low-scoring Champions League T20 final by 31 runs on Sunday, 9 October, 2011. The finals is played in M.A. Chidambaran Stadium. Mumbai Indians chose to bat first and were bowled out for 139. They bowled their hearts out and fielded well to keep the pressure on RCB. Though RCB got off to a good start – with Tillakaratne Dilshan (27) and Chris Gayle (5) adding 38 in four overs but they could manage just 108.
Gayle, who has been outstanding in the tournament, was unlucky as Harbhajan took his prized wicket by trapping him leg before for five runs.
Mumbai, who made their second appearance in the CLT20 and who were without their regular captain Sachin Tendulkar and middle-order mainstay Rohit Sharma for the entire tournament, struggled during their innings with New Zealander James Franklin – take home the winners purse of $2,500,000.
With this victory, Mumbai won the international version of the game without winning the IPL tournament once.
