Peter Frank Davis, born January 2, 1937 to screenwriters Frank Davis and Tess Slesinger, is an American television and film director, writer and producer. In addition to a long career with CBS News, Davis' Hearts and Minds, a film about American military action in Vietnam, won the Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary for the year 1974. In that same year Davis' wife Johanna "Josie" Mankiewicz, a writer and a member of a distinguished Hollywood family, was killed in a traffic accident in New York City.
