Biography:
Joel Roman is a character actor that was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT. His parents are Maria and Noel Roman. He also has a younger brother and sister named Jonathan and Jeanette Roman.
Represented by Sylvia Hutson Agency, Joel is an experienced actor and is a member of SAG/AFTRA.
Throughout his career Joel has acted in movies such as: Cielto Lindo (alongside 'CSI: Miami' Adam Rodriguez), The Journey, Dockweiler (alongside Tony Todd), Skid Marks (alongside 'Glee' Dianna Agron) , The Grind, Remembering Phil (alongside Nicholas Turturro) and Dibs playing strong lead and supporting characters. Joel appeared on TV shows like Law & Order, Johnny Zero, Filmfakers, Americas Most Wanted, ICarly, Happily Never After and FBI: Criminal Pursuit. Joel has also done Off-Broadway plays in New York and California, including A Midsummer's Night Dream (alongside former Miss America Kate Shindle and NFL Hall of Famer John Riggins) and the Madwoman of Chaillot. Joel has done commercials for McDonalds, Wal-Mart, and Spanish TV station Mun 2.
Joel started acting during his senior year in Warren Harding High school and attended RCA, better known as Regional Center for Arts. After he graduated in 2000, he continued to work on his craft and attended Housatonic Community College, where he took acting classes. He attended workshops in New York at TVI Studios and trained with independent coaches. In addition, Joel studied and took workshops while living in Hollywood, CA.
His one man show, "Hollywood's Lost Child, It Ain't Easy being Godly gave him a great opportunity to use his skills. He wrote, co-directed, and produced his first play. He performed it at Housatonic theater in Connecticut and in New York at the One Act Festival. He's also won the best actor award at the Smithfield One Act Festival in Virginia in August 2013. He will be performing his play under a new name, "Hollywood to Holiness: It Ain't Easy Being Godly" in Hampton Roads, surrounding cities, and wherever God calls him to minister this amazing message.
A remake of Othello, "MyOthello," through Americorps, which he urbanized the production by switching around the set, wardrobe, and some of the language in the script, landed Joel's Directorial Debut summer 2011. The motive behind this remake was so that today's youth could understand and relate to Othello.
